Bringing together senior chess players while honouring the people, living and departed, whose contributions helped shape the game of chess in Nigeria.
People build institutions. People build communities. People build games. And people deserve to be remembered for what they built.
Golden Gambit brings together senior chess players while recognising the people whose leadership, mentorship, sacrifice and service helped shape Nigerian chess — preserving those contributions for the generations that follow.
Tournament. Remembrance. Legacy. Three connected dimensions built around one belief: contribution deserves recognition.
Competition. Connection. Continuity.
Honouring those who came before.
Stories preserved. Contributions remembered.
